OK, I'm in!! You guys rock!
I was tired of hacking a bunch of theme parts together to try and get the look I wanted (and of course losing out on any upgrades because of those hacks). Trying to rework my (really old) custom theme for WP 3.0 menus finally pushed me over the edge. Went in search of a decent theme and I was quite willing to compromise to avoid the headaches of maintaining my own. Atahualpa gives me a great look out of the box, but I'm amazed how easy tweaking the theme can be. Plenty of buttons, knobs and sliders to set, but also the ability to add bits of custom code where needed. 2 days work and a few visits to the forums and here's what I've got ... http://scouttroop591.org Awesome! |
Here is mine. Still tweaking some things but you'll get the overall idea.

Here is my atahualpa powered blog (still working on it):
http://www.policywatch.eu/ Feedback is welcome... ;-) Thanks for the wonderful theme :-). |
Thanks for the help. Choosing Wordpress has made my website much more manageable, and I think it looks better. And it still pulls in business for me!

Just wanted to show this web site I made as a hobby for the operating system, thank you ! :)

Hi there WP people! Here's a site I made for a Home Inspector: http://abetheinspector.com . I'll be adding a blog to the site within a week or so but this is what I put in production. Comments, please?

Having seen some of the genius work on this and the last tread I feel slightly humbled. OK, very humbled. Here's mine: http://crimsonleaf.co.uk

I'm a graphic designer/cartoonist. So I approached WordPress to see what I could learn and make it do from a "design" approach, and figured I would pick up the "tech" side of things as I went along.
Found Atahualpa, and from a design standpoint as-well-as learning, I can't imagine anything else out there that can compete. Love it. Here is one of my sites. http://blog.cartoonnoise.com/?page_id=95 I'm still a rookie, and still playing around with a lot of things. Have not done much with the side bars on this one. More of a study on what could be done with header and background. Eventually I going to redo all my sites with this theme. |
Hi 49 monsters,
Really loved your site - loads of energy and really grabs you into wanting to read more. I don't know if this is appropriate, but I did have one suggestion? Your background takes a little while to load, (my broadband is not lightning-quick unfortunately) and while it does, you have yellow text on white. It might be worthwhile changing the CSS in ATO> Style & configure LAYOUT> to : background: #000; instead of background: #fff; so it's black while the background loads. Don't know what you think, or if this is something you'd want to do? Other than that, I am lost in awe of your graphics - they really are very cool! |
|
worked on this for 2 days: http://www.levoyage.nl/
it's still a work in progess, but hey.. witch site isn't? |
Thanks for the comment FFrog.
If you are talking about the "Layout Container Style" I actually have the bckgrd set to none. So if I changed it to black, the background image would not show thru behind my post. But I do see the problem. Think I need to look at simplifying the background image so it could be much smaller and load faster. At this point this site has really just been a design study. It was before I got myself set up with a local host to do all my "playing". I plan to make many changes once I really figure out what I want the site to do for me so thanks for the feed back. |

OH! Ok, gotcha. Thanks, that makes sense.

Okay, I am working on another one. I would be interested in feedback to make this a little more festive but also functional:
http://www.mjrgrp.com/demo/santa/ Oh and I know this looks terrible in IE. I can't seem to figure out why... :( |

Hi, I am Frank from Germany,
personal running 2 Atahualpa based Websites at the moment. 1. My Webdesign Page 2. My personal Portfolio Kind regards Frank |
And now for something completely different!
Atahualpa is so flexible that I got a little carried away! I got a LOT of help from Flynn and Juggledad in the beginning. Since then, I have been able to mess things up on my very own. :) It really is Atahualpa at heart, and I couldn't have done it without that great base. http://www.thepuppetco.org |
After a couple of years of spending (a LOT) of money on "premium" themes, I got completely fed up. I started searching for a somewhat decent free theme (if it's free, it can't be good, right?), and found Atahualpa. OMG. In about four hours I had figured out how Atahualpa works, some of its quirks and language, completely redesigned my site, and love it. So do my readers.
The good thing about going from theme to theme and trying to figure out how they work is that I learned php, and while I won't say that I have it down cold, it's enough that I really appreciate the wonderful ease in using this theme. This is my site, and I was more than happy to send in a donation. Because I'm thinking about using it for a couple of other sites, I will probably be sending more. You guys absolutely rock! http://www.vegaswineaux.com |
Hi, I love your front page. It was designed quite nicely. Would you mind telling me how do you get the latest news rolling and stop with mouse over? I am new to wordpress.

I've been working on this one for awhile, but I think the client will sign off soon and it'll be done! Love to hear what ya'll think, especially those using the dreaded IE......I'm working on a Mac, primarily using Firefox as my browser, with testing done in Safari and Opera. Thanks much!! |

Such an innovative menu on your portfolio page! Both sites look pretty hip to me - makes me wish I could read German..... Great work, Vickie |

I've done a few conversions of sites that were not previously WordPress.
Both of these had their challenges. www.MyCentralPharmacy.com - originally used Atahualpa as just the "blog" then a year later converted the whole site, including several pages of embedded content. www.IPSB.com had a lot of complexity within the original structure, and also has some content that is pulled from a separate database. - brian |
Been busy rebuilding a site with Ata the past couple of days. I just love this theme. This site was using Mimbo previously
CafeChoc - http://cafechoc.com |
I like your color choices. One suggestion is to set the background as fixed so it doesn't scroll with the center of the page. It's a little easier on the eyes. You would use the following which replaces scroll with fixed to your background statement. The order for the properties was incorrect as well. It shoudl be color, image, repeat, attachment, position.
HTML Code:
background: #744C42 url("http://cafechoc.com/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/bgtile.jpg") repeat fixed left top; |
This is my newest Atahualpa site
http://owitchicago.org. FWIW, it's one a number of sites I will be showing when I give a presentation about Atahualpa at the popular WordPressNYC meetup in mid-November. I welcome suggestions and links to any especially interesting sites built with our favorite theme. Send them directly to me: joe@buildinghosting.com (and that site is also an Atahualpa-based site). |

I chose it by accident because I was looking for a contrasting colour to see where a colour change occurred and I liked how it looked so I kept it. So thanks to Flynn not only for a great theme, but his choice of colour :) |
Wow! This is really impressive for two days of work. What version of Wordpress and Atahualpa are you using?

Hi, this is my first site cateco (in italian).
Suggestions are really welcome, thanks |

I'm rather proud of this: Savenor's Market in Boston and Cambridge. A good local business that's passionate about their products, it's been quite fun working with them. After customizing and creating child themes for some time on other projects, I decided to give Atahualpa a try because it was very well-reviewed and it was laid out similarly to the design I wanted to use. So easy! I'm hooked. Thank you for the wealth of information and quick responses on the help forum, as well! You guys are great. |

Did I miss what town Leslie works in? I found the phone number on the contact form but T shouldn't have to did so hard. I was a little uncertain if this was a business site or I love dogs site. All the degrees she has don't have the educational institution. I would also change the post URL to words instead of page IDs. Although the front page is nice with the photo, why should I have to click through so many pages to get to content. That is a web usability issue. Ann |
