[SOLVED] How to drop an image into sidebar

Trying to drop some images into my right sidebar. How is this done? I just installed Atahulapa and I've uploaded my first image to the library via Media. But the only options I see to use this image are to put it into a post. I'd like to put the image under where my right sidebar has 'recent posts' and 'meta'. Is there a simple way to drag and drop this image?
In short, I'd like to know if I can place images anywhere I wish in Atahualpa, or am I confined to a certain area only. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to place different images into the sidebars and later into a footer.
Apologies if this was asked previously. I've searched the forum here but didn't find my question. I also googled my question and all I'm coming up with is ways to change the image in the header. Any help is appreciated.
Have a great day!

As in every theme, the sidebars are widget areas. If you go to dashboard->appearance->widgets you will see the sidebars and the widgets you can use. Many plugins add their own widget here.

You could add an image by adding a text widget and add the <img...> html syntax or adding a image/gallery plugin that has a widget.

Many thanks for your very quick reply!
I was under the impression I could just drop images onto my sidebar but I see it's done with a widget instead.
I found a widget similar to one you described, downloaded it to my hard drive, uploaded it to the site (into plugins, actually) and when I activated it, it installed into available widgets. Excellent!
