FrontPage Slideshow - Basic Clear Instructions
Hi All
How are images loaded and referenced (linked) for display? I see background instructions but nothing for the how-to's for loading the actual slides. How are page links made within the plug-in? I am trying to make a rotating slide show with click-able image links to individual referenced pages. It seems like Frontpage Slideshow is the tool to use...maybe not! I attempted the same thing with NextGallery and was very disappointed. Thanks |
You should probably check the forums for those particular plugins or what I do is install the plugins and start playing. This forum is for Atahualpa theme issues.

Ok,
Thanks Larry and you are right. I didn't mean to violate a policy but I've read a few good threads on this forum about Front Page Slide Show. I thought someone could help or point me to a solution source. I've checked all of the sites, played around with the plug-in, read most of the forums and wrote the developer for help. As you suggested I will continue to do so. In any case thanks for responding :). As a side note I enjoy this forum and Atahualpa! Kevin |
This is an interesting plugin. I installed it just to try it out. Did you enable it? It has a second place where you have to enable it, after you activate it. Did you open up the various options with the + signs? That's where you do all the settings.
That said, I think it's a very weirdly written plugin. I got it to work in preview, but not on the live site. Smooth Slider is much better, if you want a simple way to highlight posts. Tierra Billboard Manager is wonderful if you just want to show a slideshow within a post. |
Just to give you an insight into the solutions here. Many time some of us will see a question we will play around with CSS, install and play with the plugins and then give our "solution". That's why it is generally limited to the Atahualpa theme as we could get off on some pretty crazy tangents. That being said I just had some time to play so I installed the Frontpage Slideshow plugin and see that it gets its content from the last few posts. I have also used NextGen and I do know that the slide show doesn't link to a page as it is just a slideshow. I am not quite sure how you would link to pages via a slideshow but what I would do to find out is search through the plugins on WordPress.org which is where I spend a ton of time installing and testing many different plugins as the descriptions can sound wonderful but in practice the plugins sometimes don't live up to their promises.
I hope that helps a bit. |

Thanks for the great tip. There's plenty of documentation with both recommendations..... |
