Do these results look normal?
For those who understand... As you all know my goal is to reduce to load speed down to a few seconds. By looking at these ping results, can any suggest any places that need work?

oK... So I have some time on my hand and starting pinging other blogs listed in the "Showing Off" section, and to be honestly, I do not see much difference in load time. Below I have listed the website/blog followed by its ping results. Is it this theme that is generally slow?

Just remember that when you go view a site, the load time is going to consist of several variables' with the main three being
1) how fast is your computer (or the one doing the testing) 2) what is the load on the network 3) How fast and what's the load of the computer serving the site. At the ISP I'm hosted on, there are several different packages from running on a dedicated server to rnning on a server with many other domains. It all depends on how much ($$) I want to spend. So if I had my site on a shared server and tested it, I would get one result, if I moved it to a dedicated server it would be uch faster with no change in the code. This is not to say you can't do things to make loading times faster check out http://forum.bytesforall.com/showthr...ight=load+time |
Thanks. I am still doing reserach on my site.
I know it is not my computer nor my modem, as they are top of the line. So it must be site content YSB servers or WordPress. QUESTION: I went into the Theme Editor and made these modifications, but I need to know if this was the right step to do, and if I should notice any difference. Of course, the goal is speed. Please let me know. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" becomes this: <?php ob_start('ob_gzhandler'); ?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" QUESTIONs: How can I determine if there is javascript in the head area my html documents? Can this be moved before closing </body> tag? Here are the results I got from running YSLOW: This page has 5 external Javascript scripts. Try combining them into one. This page has 6 external stylesheets. Try combining them into one. This page has 14 external background images. Try combining them with CSS sprites. Any advice on how I can do what it suggests? Last but not least, I did some things to the site this morning and I wanted to know if it loads faster .. www.paulharrisjr.net -------------------------- Here are some more results I did using GIDZipTest.
