Full width slider for home page

Hi guys

I've been using Atahualpa for some time on a number of sites.
Now I want to use it on another one.

I'm trying to insert a full width slider that takes up the whole width of the screen onto the home page below the logo area. The slider has the ability to only show on the home page.
I've set the layout width of the theme at 980.
When I insert the slider code below the header through the theme options, the width of the slider inevitably shrinks to 980.
If I set the theme layout width higher, the internal pages will look weird.

How do I get around this?
Would appreciate your advice. Thanks.

You might be able to accomplish what you want with CSS but I would need a link to the site to determine feasibility.

Hi lmilesw,
I have the same issue, I would like to add a full width slider in the home page of the site and I don't know how to do it. I tried some CSS with firebug but without any success.

I have attached the link to the site:

any help will be much appreciated.

What slider are you using?
Have you asked the plugin author how to make it full width?

I am using Wow slider.
I am going to ask them as well.....

Here the answer from the autor of the plugin:
Unfortunately, it's impossible to create slideshow full wight. You can create slideshow
with fixed size only.

Then, is there any way I can make the slider bigger than the layout width?
