HELP!!! Major problem after upgrading to new version today!!
 

Just upgraded theme, now when I browse to my site or try to login into wordpress this is what I get ~ what can I do??? Urgent help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. :o :confused: :(

Ok all these errors seem to be in functions.php and referencing .php files in the ~/functions directory

For instance this error
In my functions.php line 84 reads
so it seems like bfa_posts_parts.php can't be found in that path

So either that file and others are missing or been corrupted during the upgrade

I would FTP to your site and navigate to the ~/functions directory and see if the .php file i mentioned is there in all their should be 24 .php files in that folder

If that file is present and correct it is another problem, if it and others are missing I would download the upgrade files from here http://wordpress.bytesforall.com/?p=87 unzip the file and upload all the files in the functions directory

reinstall the theme manually
download it to your computer,
unzip it
then upload it to the server.
Several people have had issues with the automatic upgrade via wordpress.

I'm just wondering whether I should restore a backup I have before I did the upgrade. Problem is, every time there is an upgrade, you have to keep changing things back to the way you had them setup which is very time consuming and rather annoying!

Is it worth the upgrade anyway? What functions is it enhancing?

What I always do when there is a theme upgrade is to first do a Wordpress backup, even though that has nothing to do, per se, with the theme upgrade. Just good practice.

Then I download the new theme to my hard drive, unzip it, and copy into it, via FTP, any custom files I've been using, like my header image, my favicon, a custom bullet graphic. I put them in the proper places in the new theme, on my hard drive. Now I upload the new theme to my site's themes folder, making sure it has a new name: atahualpa346, for instance. Then I preview it to make sure all is well, and then activate it. The old theme is still there in the folder so I can switch back to it if necessary. The theme options, which are stored in the main database, are applied to the new theme without my having to do anything else.

This method takes a bit longer than doing the auto-upgrade, but it saves time in actual practice since less can go wrong.

After automatically upgrading the new 3.4.6 Atahualpa version, my site has disappeared, and when I try accessing the theme, it says that I have insufficient rights to do so.

Upon checking with FTP, I find the ~/functions folder is completely missing. The only ones left are ~/images and ~/options, and a couple of files in the theme's root folder.

I will definitely follow Paulae's advice in future cases. For now, I want to follow Juggledads advice and reinstall, but won't I lose my settings when I overwrite? Can I just download the new 3.4.6 version, unzip, and FTP to WP's themes folder?

You won't lose the options, which are stored in the Wordpress database. You will need to delete the default header images and put your own in the images folder, your favicon, any other custom graphics for the theme. I always make sure I leave the old theme intact, as well as the default Kubrick theme, in case I do have some kind of problem. i can always go back to an older theme if the new one is giving me problems.

I just posted this in another thread but wanted to mention here as well that it looks to me like there is a glitch with the Atahualpa installation files on WordPress.org. I tried installing 3.4.6 on a clean WordPress install and got a lot of function.php errors. I then uploaded a copy I had and all went fine.
