How to upload photo to sidebar using theme options?

I'd like to upload my photo to appear in the top of the left sidebar. I know how to use FTP, but I'm not sure if there's a way to do it through the theme options rather than through FTP. What's the best way to accomplish this?

The theme doesn't have anything built in to upload images.

If you want an image to show up in a sidebar, you could just use the standard Wordpress media library then add a text widget in the sidebar with the html to display the link.

Hi -- I'm not the one who asked this original question, but it's exactly what I'm struggling with. I'm trying to put a photo in the sidebar using the text widget, but I have no experience with html and was hoping there was another way. I've uploaded the image both into my "images" folder via ftp, and also using the image uploader into my "media library." (I wasn't sure which was better, so I thought I'd try both. <g>)

The photo is a .jpg, so at first I thought maybe this was the problem, so I tried to find an image converter online that would convert it to .img. (Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to do this.) I'm using Atahualpa, so shouldn't there just be an easy way just to point to the image and not have to paste code into the text box?

If not, then can you please explain what html code to paste, and how to write the specific code I need?

Thanks in advance for your help.

here is an easy way to get the HTML.

1) add an image to the media library
2) add a new post - you won't plublish it, it's just for data gathering
3) make sure you areusing the HTML editor
4) using the media tools, add the image to the post
5) copy the HTML created
6) go to your text widget and paste in the HTML you just copied.

you may have to change the size of the image in the code, but this will give you a start
