post excerpts on new Home Page
 

I've created a new page called Home and I want post excerpts to appear on this page.
How can I do this?

If you want this to be the blog page, go to the WP dashboard->settings->reading->Front page displays and select 'Home' as the blog page and something else for the landing page (page that opens when you type mydomain.com)

Then you should set ATO->Configure EXCERPTS->Posts or excerpts on HOME page? to excerpts

I did that, but the posts still do not appear on my new Home Page (Page, not Post).
Do I need to put a token or something on my 'Home' Page?
How does Atahualpa know where to put the excerpts?

the is a two part answer.
Part one - posts on your home page
The page that the posts show up on is controlled be wordpress. by selecting the 'Front page displays' radio button 'A static page (select below)' you are telling wordpress to use something other than the normal blog page as your landing page. Then by naming a page as the blog page, wordpress now knows where to display all the posts. You should be able to swap to teh default theme and see this working.

Next is how to display excerpts. Atahualpa has an option to display a page as excerpts. When the page is displayed Atahualpa checks to see if it should be an excerpt and makes it on if need be. It checks two things for the post page: Is 'Posts or excerpts on HOME page?' set to 'Only Excerpts' and what is 'Show the first X posts on HOME page as full posts?' set to. If it is set to '0' then all the posts will be excerpts.

Atahualpa is treating the page you tell Wordpress is your blog page, as the page these rules apply to.
I just finished testing this and it works fine.

I quickly switched to the default theme, refreshed the Home Page, and still no posts.

Settings > Reading > Front page displays:
Selected: A static page (select below)
Front Page: Home

ATO > Configure EXCERPTS:
Posts or excerpts on HOME page? Only Excerpts.

I see there's a Wordpress update.
I wonder if Atahualpa 3.4.4 will work with Wordpress 2.9

wait, you set 'Front page:' and then selected 'Home'?? (this will not be where posts show up)
What did you select for 'Posts page:'? This is the page your posts will display on.

If you want your post to show up on the frontpage of the site, just use 'Front page displays' - 'Your latest posts'. Why are you creating your own hoe page?

I've created a new Home Page because there's some content that needs to stay on there. Some Welcome text, kind of thing.

Is there another way to (a) have the same content always on the home page and (b) have excerpts of posts on the same home page?
