Combining Post and Pages
Hi,
Is there a possibility to mix Pages and post? At the moment my site looks like a collection of pages and below a collection of posts. I would like to be able to order them freely. Is this possible? No2) How can I allow visitors to comment on a page (I'm aware posts bring up a leave comments box) is this possible for pages too? Thanks for suggestions. :) |
When you create or edit a page there is a YES/NO for comments
Have to see your site to comment on order |
Hi Sparks,
First, thanks for taking the time to reply. I had a look at your site and could see that your blog is mixed with other pages. I would like to achieve the same. My site is at: http://didier.co.uk/blog/ On the other issue "allowing comments", I have done what you're suggesting but it makes no difference. I'm wondering if I need to insert code on the page? Thanks again. |
Ok, you need to explain a bit better what you are talking about.
A page is a page with static info on it a post is a small chucck of information a 'post' page is a page displaying one or more posts ('single post page' or 'multi post page') the 'blog' generally refers to a 'multi post page' there is the header that can have a menubar of pages or categories there are are sidebars that can contain all sorts of widgets So, when you say you want to combine posts and pages - what do you mean? |
Hi,
Ok, first a bit of background info. My site is going to have different sections (pages) for logo design, web design, flash design etc... What I would like to do is to have a blog for each of these pages where I could show the last work I've done in that field by posting images, info and links for a particular project. Below is in example of how the navigation would be (ideally). Web design (page with blurb) > Web Portfolio (post with images and links + reply) Graphic design (page with blurb) > Graphic design Portfolio (post with images and links + reply) I hope it is a bit clearer now. Thanks for feedback. |
Looks like you made everything a child page of the blog. May not matter but for organization I would have pages with no parent.
Since I doubt there is a way to have multiple blogs .... you might put posts and pages in the same related category and show post excerpts on the subject page. Since I haven't done it ... it's only a concept You also have to say NO in ATO -> Style & configure COMMENTS -> Allow comments on "Page" pages, too? Might try this - Inline Posts Plugin for Wordpress http://aralbalkan.com/1016 |
Hi,
thanks that's one question solved (allow comments in ato), unfortunately the resulting form is ugly and I'm not going to use it, do you know of a way to have the form hidden and just the link "Leave a comment" showing and on click the form appears? Quote:
Thanks |
Pages don't have categories (maybe some day) but there are plugins
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...=Page+Category I played with them and decided I didn't need them |
I'm interested in this issue as well, because I have certain "static" pages that I would like to have behave as though they were posts. I can achieve this if I post them on my home page and use a re-direct widget, but then I get double postings of the same item (on the home page and on the static page). Ideally, I'd like to send all of my youtube content to my media gallery, with an ability to show a time stamp and comment.
