How can I have a front page that is long?

I am unable to discover how to create a front page (or any page) which extends below the browser status bar area. All I want to do is put content on the page and have scroll bars appear to be able to scroll down to see the rest of the content. I am using atahualpa 3.5.3 on a wordpress 3.0 installation. I set the front page to be static. I uploaded an image to display in the page post which is 980 x 1252 px, which extended off the page although it was clickable and took me to a full sized image. Then I deleted the image and page and created a new one just using letters and line breaks to try to extend the content down the page. So the content is off the page and there is no way to see it- no scroll bars. Help is appreciated. root-magic.com

Here is one thing to try. Set the sticky footer and add the following to CSS Inserts.

HTML Code:

td#middle {
vertical-align: middle;
}

Thanks juggledad that did partially work, I think, because before I made the change I did not check the site in IE, but later did and there is a scroll bar which happily remains. I count that 16 lines of text can be displayed in FF and at least 20 (and counting) in IE. When I reloaded the page in FF, Safari and Chrome I used to see the scroll bar appear momentarily and then it is overridden. Now after deleting the page again and inserting text lines using visual, not html, I don't seem to see the momentary scroll bar.So it does not work in those browsers , only IE 7, and it seems to be browser specific. Any other work around, or is there another version of atahualpa in which this problem does not occur. I need this site up and running yesterday. Thanks for your effort. Merrill

9.00 am- I reverted to atahualpa 3.4.6 and am not seeing the problem on any browser. I am using FF 3.5.1

There shouldn't be any difference in this between 3.4.6 and 3.5.3
