SEO - Setting custom page title per page/post?

I wonder if it's possible to set custom page title for post/page:
<head><title>This thing</title><head> ?

Atahualpa Page Options has "Body Title Single Pages" as well as 'bfa_ata_body_title' custom field.
They seem to duplicate each other and setting either does not change page title.

Is it possible?

Ahhh, got it - it's actually "meta title" and corresponding custom field 'bfa_ata_meta_title'.

Still question - what's significance of listing logical field: "meta title" together with it's physical counterpart 'bfa_ata_meta_title' in page/post settings?

Setting them to different values doesn't seems to do any good and a bit confusing?

You may want to use a shorter title on the body for visual reasons, or have variations of keywords in the meta title and other variations in the body title, things like that. I don't know whether that is good or not but at least the option is there. There is no rule that meta and body title must be the same from the search engine's perspective as far as I know, or that it would be harmful (or good) for SEO
