[SOLVED] Selecting External CSS and Javascript break site!
This is a bit strange!
I have a site that I've upgraded from ATA 3.7.3 to 3.7.10. (WP 3.5.1) It's been running just fine for years before and after upgrading... No problems! I was doing a pagespeed test and noticed that the css and js were not in an external file. So I went to the ATA "Configure CSS and JS" settings page and changed to "External" and saved. Upon refreshing the front page... All css and formatting went away. I went back to Inline and all's fine again. I combed through the BFP archives and found this thread... http://forum.bytesforall.com/showthr...nal+css+broken and tried the "Remove bfa_ata4 from the database" but that made no difference. Any clue as to why selecting External files breaks the site? I have had no problems on other sites... I'm scratching my head! |
do you have a caching plugin active?
|
You almost had me! No, no caching plugins active nor even installed. But your message made me realize that I'm using CloudFlare via Bluehost and *they* cache.
So I went to external and checked the site - css gone. Went to CloudFlare and purged the cache, even purged my browser cache... Still no css on the site... |
what is the site.
p.s. am in the northeast with blizzard conditions...so we could lose electricity. |
Hi Juggledad,
It's wisewomanshining.com I've enabled debug if that helps. Whereabouts are you? I'm from just north of Boston originally. I've heard that this one's supposed to be a doozy. I wonder if it will compete (I hope not) with the Blizzard of '78. Thanks! Ken |
south west of boston in the 24-30+ region - travel has been banned in the entire state!
(Blizzard of 78 has 27.5 inches and I was in Avon at the time) Let me take a look |
site is showing fine for me in chrome on a mac - oh, but the css is inline.
send me a PM with an admin ID/PW and I'll peek |
I would
1) try disabling ALL the plugins at the same time and test it 2) remove duplicate plugins 0 you have two database backup plugins 3) check your .htaccess file - for some reason when you try to display the css external file HTML Code:

Hi Juggledad,
Thanks so much for looking at things! Turned out to be a plugin, that in retrospect - of course it was the problem! It was Scott Yang's Permalink Redirect plugin http://scott.yang.id.au/code/permalink-redirect/ It had been on the site for years and I had forgotten all about it! Remove the plugin.. and Atahualpa External CSS and JS work just fine! Hope you found Nemo not to be a problem! Thanks! Ken |
