I've been working on my new website for at least 2 weeks now and must say that this theme really made things easy. Thank you!

I've adjusted many things to my personal needs and often found help in this forum which is another - but very important - aspect: a very good work without support/documentation is nothing.

Again: Thank you for your hard work. The following website is another one that would not have been possible without you (at least in this way):

This is my NEW favourite theme. A great piece of work and a credit to the team. I'm working on this right now: http://www.richardbeard.info
I hope you like it.

Another new Atahualpa based site is now on the Internet: www.fromtheranks.com. It is focused on IT and IT Fundamentals.

As each of you have "been there and done that" with WP and Atahualpa ... please check it out and let me know what you think.

You won't hurt my feelings with suggestions. I've been looking at this for two months straight almost and fresh sets of eyes would be appreciated.

Thank you Flynn for your top-flight theme. It made my side of the equation a whole lot easier! :)

Wow! So much inspiration and support here. :)

I'm a first time blogger and found atahualpa the best theme to work with for a newbie like myself. I'm always making improvements to my site and it's possible because of everything I can find here on the forums. Thanks for making it all possible!

Here's my blog. Still a work under progress. ;)

Thanks masterballer. :)

Love your site too! There's a slew of info there that my brain almost exploded, hehe. :p

I love how flexible the theme is.
My firm uses the theme, and (if I say so myself) pushes it to the limit visually
http://socialbootstrap.com

Well-- I thought we had pushed it to the limit.
My wife's (still in progress) site is going even further:

http://vividmargin.com

Both sites required a little digging around and hacking at stuff- but it isn't bad considering we have no web development experience, and had to learn html and css as we went.

I am amazed at impressed with all the things that people have done with this theme...it really is near 100% customizable...fantastic to say the least, and I do appreciate all the work that has gone into developing this theme.

My website adventure started in 1998 with hand-coding HTML in a text editor, then came FrontPage and finally Dreamweaver, but 3 years ago I realized that the blog format offered what I needed without having to update and edit an endless number of templates whenever I fancied a design change. I went with TypePad, and customized my own theme, very much similar to the options here, but still a lot more limited in what you can do. In the end, TypePad wasn't really what I was looking for, so I switched to WordPress.com a year ago, but after I saw this theme I migrated to WordPress.org and started tweaking Atahualpa to my liking. Now it looks pretty much like my TypePad site did, but with all the extra bells and whistles that TypePad didn't have, and I guess, still doesn't have. Enjoy!

And a great Thank You to the BFA team.

Hello,

I just want to share my Atahualpa theme v 3.4.1. : not a great customization but using excerpts with get_the_image() and the_content_limit(). And it works like a charm.

or
http://chabada.free.fr/?preview=1&te...t=atahualpa341

This is a demo site to test my themes and plugins. And it is in french: so nothing to read, just to see :)

whomadewho Jul 12, 2009 01:05 PM

Well, my first post might as well be this. I just made a static site with the theme. (I just upgraded to 3.4.1 so there are a few things that I need to figure out that looked different when I made the site with an old version - like that horizontal bar on the front page. I just discovered this forum and am sure to find my answers here)

I went from loving this theme to wanting to marry it with the 3.4.2 upgrade

Made an effortless website in about 5 hours today, including creating the logo, various other photoshop workings and creating the content from scratch!!

Doc,

I really like the layout on your site. Can you tell me what you had to modify to get the featured post.

Thanks

The site uses two versions of the WP Loop. This used to be hard to do int he previous versions of Atahualpa, but now that Flynn has exposed the loop in the options it is much easier to do this and have it update with new versions of atahualpa - although I haven't updated yet! The old way I had to manually update a couple of the PHP/CSS files

It isn't perfect (note the border at the bottom of the boxes is chopped off) - because it relies on a whole pile of CSS tricks to get the two boxes to be the same size

To be honest I probably can't tell you in detail without more work/time than I have right now. It would take me reading the code and documenting it. Keep an eye out here though. I might get time and post it....

I've done five or six sites with this theme - it's amazing how fast you can customize it when you get used to where everything is. I've got a quite a library of CSS inserts going, too...

Here's my personal site, I like doing things that don't look "so wordpress":

metalbuzz Jul 17, 2009 01:23 PM

Outstanding theme. Just upgraded to 3.4.2!
MetalBUZZ - http://www.metalbuzz.net

mcphoto Jul 17, 2009 01:36 PM

Metalbuzz - that's cool, bet ya get some traffic!

I would really consider getting your meatalbuzz logo more prominent - the top banner ad really "reads" like the ID of your site. I know ad $$ are a big deal, but I'd "brand" your site a lot stronger.

Your audience is often a really raving "affinity" market, in that their entire self-image & lifestyle is often wrapped up in an specific interest (in this case, heavy tunes). Position yourself as someone who gets it, who is "one of them" and you're gold - but they got to remember who you are. I'd get a page banner as graphic & colorful as the ad that's up there, and give it a little breathing space - that could help you out long-term - just my 02! Best of luck.

OK, so this has been an exercise in using Athualpa to construct an attorney's website, which CAN'T use most of the blogging capabilities for privacy and professional reasons. The layout is done, I just need the correct copy and graphics to plug in and I can move it over to the domain.

The more I worked with this theme, the easier it got. Excellent product.

Nelson Jul 21, 2009 05:14 PM

Hello All,

I have had my wordpress site for about a year or so, just never did much with it.

I never could find a design for it that I could live with. That has changed since I found Atahualpa, however.

Here is my url: http://www.chess-knights.net

If you visit there, you will not find a lot of content yet, but it soon will. I really like this new theme, and want to eventually turn it into a site whose structure is more cms-oriented than blog-oriented, although the blog will always be a part of the site.

I must say that wordpress is probably one of the best frameworks for a chess site. Wordpress and Atahualpa fits my needs beautifully.

:)

Best wishes,

Nelson
