Nextgen Gallery Options

I tried posting this question to the Nextgen WP forum but nobody answered. Unfortunately the author of Nextgen does not have their own forum. I was hoping somebody here could answer this basic question.

Is there a way to set options in Nextgen for specific galleries? It appears like it only has global option settings that apply to every gallery on the site. I'm talking about the "options >> Gallery" settings. IN particular, these things:

Number of images per page:
Number of columns:
Integrate slideshow:
Show first:

I want to set these differently for different galleries, but there doesn't seem to be a way.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Emanuel

I know of no way to change the settings you mention on a per gallery basis.

Right, Larry, and it's one reason I don't use Next Gen very much.

Tierra Billboard Manager lets you modify settings per gallery. It was created for PBS, and I heard about it at Wordcamp NYC. Soon after the developers presented it at the conference, they made it available for free to the WP community. It's very spiffy.

Here it is in action: http://www.larchmontgazette.com/news...-local-family/

What do you use Paula?

See above.

Billboard Gallery does indeed look "spiffy" for banner and rotational type media. Thanks for the heads up.

Ok thanks. That's what I figured. How can Nextgen be so popular when it has such a major drawback to it?

Also thanks for the Tierra Billboard Manager heads-up. I just installed it and will play around with it later, but I have already found another solution. It's called Monoslideshow. Works very simply... a single xml file assigns all the variables. There's also a plugin that allows it to work with Nextgen (which many of my clients are already locked into.) Here's the website. Definitely look at the demo. You can adjust all the variables right from the demo page and then download a custom xml file for your own slideshow. Allows video embdeds too...

One caveat... monoslidehow is only for slideshows (duh). What about Tierra Billboard? Can it layout galleries on the page like Nextgen?

I don't see any way to use Tierra Billboard Manager for anything except slideshows.

You can, of course, just use the built-in Wordpress gallery feature if you just want to layout images in a post with no fancy effects.
