[SOLVED] Favicons not showing in Atahualpa 3.7.3

Hello,
I am using Atahualpa 3.7.3, which is working out really nicely-except this last little detail. I have uploaded a Favicon to my ftp (root folder, and everything else I could think of) and can see it when I type the address into my browser, but when I enter it into the ATO, it won't show up-and neither will any of the existing favicons-neither in Firefox or Explorer. Any ideas?
Thanks.

The favicon should be uploaded to the favicon folder and then you enter the name of the favicon in the favicon section of the theme options. It does have to be an ico file as well.

Thanks-I tried and re-tried that but no luck-wondering if anybody has run into the same issue and how they solved it.

What is the URL?

I have a personal favicon in my blog (rlog.rgtti.com) and it works ok. You just have to rememeber to re-upload it if you do an automatic theme upgrade.

Thanks-my URL is http://www.lore-editorial.com/

Just to make sure...
  • What is the name of your favicon?
  • Do you have that name in the favicon box in ATO>Add a favicon?
  • Do you have the favicon uploaded to your atahualpa/images/favicon folder?

It is called lore.ico. That is the name that is in the favicon box under 'add a favicon.' It is also uploaded to the theme/favicon file. If I confirm its presence online, it also shows up as the favicon as well as in the browser, but does not do so for the actual website.
Thanks for any insight.

It looks as though you have a corrupt favicon.ico file in the root of your site. You might try deleting that file. If your favicon still doesn't show try renaming your lore.ico and put the new name in the favicon box.

the source of the page shows the url of the favicon to be
HTML Code:

http://www.lore-editorial.com/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/lore.ico
but that gets a 'Not Found'. The image should be in
HTML Code:

http://www.lore-editorial.com/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/favicon/lore.ico
and it is there, so something is changing the path of the favicon.

1) Have you edited any of the theme code? particulary header.php?
2) do you have any SEO type plugins active?
3) what is your permalinks set to? - try setting the permalinks to the default and see if it shows up.

Hi Juggledad-
I did edit the header.php, just the file name for the favicon-and changed it back after reading this post. I don't have any SEO plugins. I tried the default permalinks-and default favicon-still not seeing it, but thanks for your suggestions.

The path is still wrong, it now points to
HTML Code:

http://www.lore-editorial.com/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/new-favicon.ico
but should point to
HTML Code:

http://www.lore-editorial.com/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/faviconnew-favicon.ico
so what ever you changed isn't correct. I suggest you download a new copy of Atahualpa, unzip it and ftp the header.php up to your server.

That did it! Thanks so much for always sharing your helpful advice.
