Everyone can read but only donors can post
Due to its high "pagerank" the forum has always been an attractive target for spammers, and it is only getting worse by the day.
Due to this write access on the forum is now limited to donors. That means from now on you can only post if you are a donor. To become a donor donate 5 USD or more. See the donate page at http://forum.bytesforall.com/awcodin...payment&sid=ds (Scroll to the bottom of that page to see the various donor levels) MANY non-donor questions have been answered here on the forum in the past. That should be proof enough that we are not greedy or something. Also, there is already a lot of valuable information on the forum by now, and you can still READ without donating. |
Themeframe members get the additional usergroup "ThemeFrame Members" now.
There may be some temporary permission issues the new few days, which I will sort out as they occur |
Good move Flynn.

Excellent, thank you, Flynn.

I postponed this change for a couple days until I am back from a journey.
It requires some potentially dangerous SQL queries and I am afraid my internet connection may get interruped in the middle of a SQL query. |
This should be active now.
Everyone can read Only these users can POST: Greenback Members (USD 5+ donation) Gold Members (USD 20+ donation) Diamond Members (USD 100+ donation) ThemeFrame Members |
I foresee fewer bug reports, so problems may go unnoticed by web admins. Is there a chance you could set up an official bug tracker? Maybe Mantis, Bugzilla, or similar. It really would be nice to have a central location for feature requests and bug reports where viewers could see which issues are actively being worked on, and which are low priority.

Thank you,
I'll upgrade my membership probably later ( Greenback currently) regards, Quote:

The forum is open again for everyone
Looks like 99% of the spam bots are stopped now I just put 9,000 accounts that most likely were bot accounts into a special user group that cannot do anything. Tomorrow another few thousand accounts will be put there and then deleted after a while |
16,500 spammers are now in quarantine. Looks like we're getting rid of this after all
I will look into the remaining 3-5,000 tomorrow |
