Thanks, good points. I'll try to be clearer. I'm running wordpress 3 and Atahualpa 3.4. I've made a static site using "Pages." It's not live yet, running on xampp.

I have a welcome page without much text in the center column. The box it's in takes up the whole page leaving a lot of blank space at the bottom. My second pages has quite a bit of text. Is there a way to tell a text box to resize itself, to conform to the text inside? Can this be done on a page-by-page basis?

Thanks, Mark

how did you define your text box?

Center column style: (I guess this is what I'm calling a text box)
******************************************
background-color: #dff0d5;
-moz-border-radius: 30px;
-khtml-border-radius: 30px;
-webkit-border-radius: 30px;
border-radius: 30px;

******************************************

also from "Posts and Pages" Body Box (this is more the outside, the whole box, I think)

padding-top: 10px;
padding-left: 80px;
padding-right: 70px;
padding-bottom: 60px;
**********************************************
Here's the content of the Welcome page I'd like centered vertically:

<center>
<table width="400">
<tr>
<td>
<em><font size="2">"What a morning! A few puffy clouds. A pure blue sky. The lark was on the wing. The snail was on the thorn. And Kalisha Jackson was on her stoop, having a panic attack."</font></em>
</td>
</tr>
</table></center>
<em>The Word Gang</em> is the story of three kids in school who start using big words to be disruptive.

I feel a little silly not knowing the terms better. Hope this helps clarify. Thanks, Mark

And. On my laptop's small screen the content seems to fit the center column nicely. I also have a big monitor and here Welcome page has a lot of empty space at the bottom. I think I'm looking for a command to tell the center column to re-size itself around whatever text is present. m

Oh, and I'm using a fluid-width site, at 96%.
