Excerpts on homepage not working
 

I switched "Posts or excerpts on HOME page?" to "only excerpts" and 1 in "Show the first X posts on HOME page as full posts?" in Post or Excerpts options, but on my homepage there are still full posts instead of excerpts.

How can I fix that?

Question: There are two threads on this subject, (this one and http://forum.bytesforall.com/showthread.php?t=1835) with, apparently, different fixes. Which is correct? Or are both required? I'm running into this issue right now. But I don't want to over-correct the code.

Which index.php?

There are multiple index.php's under my root:

/index.php
/wp-admin/index.php <-- pretty sure I can ignore this one
/wp-content/index.php <-- probably not, but ...
/wp-content/themes/atahualpa333/index.php <-- presumed candidate but you now how presumptions and assumptions go

It was late so I figured no one would be on the board so I did what I should have done in the first place: look. For someone's future reference:

root/index.php <-- just loads wp-blog-header.php ...
root/wp-admin/index.php <-- seems to be strictly for the dashboard (makes sense)
root/wp-content/index.php <-- almost as empty as one can get and still have a .php script
root/wp-content/themes/atahualpa333/index.php <-- the target index.php file

But, my question on spam replies on the forum still stands.

Applied the http://forum.bytesforall.com/showpos...8&postcount=11 patches to index.php and bfa_post_parts.php ... and ... it works superbly.

Actually, better than expected because I wasn't anticipating the fixed excerpt logic for the Home page to use the Edit Post --> Excerpt text. I "assumed" it would do a teaser version.

I seem to be having the opposite problem. I switched my "Posts or excerpts on HOME page" from "full posts" to "excerpts" which worked fine on the front-end but then I tried switching back and I noticed that in the back-end settings it was already reverted to "full posts" even though excerpts were showing on front-end. I tried toggling this setting back and forth but now the back-end setting is stuck on "full posts" and the front-end is stuck showing excerpts! Any ideas?
