Google map plugin with custom pins?

I want to be able to include a Google map of our town in a post. On the map, I want to place "pin" markers. If you hover over a pin, a tool-tip with info will appear. In this case, it'll be information about a home's new tax valuation for a news article.

I can't find a suitable plugin. Any ideas?

Oops. Answered my own question: Map Press.

Wow. I seem to recall trying this plugin about a year ago, and it blew up my admin back then. It's great now. Very easy to use. I'll show you the result when we're done with the post.

I use the plugin on the latest version of ATA and WP and it works fine! Hope you like it.

I'm using Map Press on this site (Click on the Map tab. I tried other ways to embed a Google map but this was the cleanest and easiest.

I have explored map press, but I am not sure it can help me show a map that I have already marked up using google maps.

Map I want to show: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...19962,0.025749

I am using WP version: 3.1

Thank you in advance for your help.

What have you tried.

I found out from the MapPress developer that it is not possible- he responded to an email that I had written him.

Haven't explored any other options.

Thank you,

Angel Garbarino

You could use the Google Map embed code. It is an iframe which you shouldn't just paste into a post but there are plugins to get around that limitation.

Thank you, I tried the MapPress plugin, but that didn't work. Do you have any other suggestions?

I would do a search on wordpress.org. there are Google map plugins and plugins that let you embed iframes. Even the TinyMCE Advanced plugin lets you configure it so that iframes won't get stripped.
