How to eliminate categories from theme entirely
 

I would like my multi-author website to use only tags. How do I eliminate the "categories" option from the new post template for authors?

That isn't a theme function. I would do a search on wordpress.org for help or perhaps there is a plugin that will eliminate categories from the options.
