I love ATAHUALPA! These are ALL made with Atahualpa theme!

Just one suggestion, for better loading speed it's best to link to the css file rather than embedding?

- Vincent

Thanks for the compliments Vincent. Are you referring to the javascript code in terms of the embedding?

Technically, it depends on how many pages the user visits. On the first page load, having the CSS embedded is faster because there will be one less file request. That said, the file will then be in memory, so subsequent page views will faster because fewer characters will be shipped to the users computer.

Then there is the issue of caching. But none of this is for this thread because this is for showing off. ;)

I'd love some feedback (speakUP@jtcina.com). Next thing I'd like to tackle is mastering the typography. I think it can look a lot cleaner.

Check it out: jtcina.com

Are there any master designers out there? I'm looking to outsource customizations when needed but I haven't found the right pro. Some eCommerce knowledge is great too.

Thanks,

JTCina

Hi JTCina,

Here are some comments about your site:

- The top logo looks very compressed/low-resolution, you should replace it.
- Too much white.
- Should customize the article title fonts.
- Sidebar widgets need to be customized to make them stand out better.

Thank you,

SupraTT

Ive been using Atahualpa since the beginning of January after searching for a good theme i could learn from and at the same time get a website running, been confusing but i think this theme suits everyone.

I fixed up my site http://www.filmforalla.se (its in swedish, but look anyway.) with atahualpha and widgets + plugins, still have some stuff to do but almost, almost done. =)

Thanks to the developers of this!

I love Atahualpa! :D

That's really a sharp-looking site. Nice flow, very professional, clean, concise. Good job.

aravere Feb 27, 2011 06:07 AM

Atahualpa and the fantastic support helped me come up with this. Turned out well; I'd love to add more sophistication. www.timothychambers.com
(btw- first site I ever attempted! Atahualpa makes it achievable) :)

aravere Feb 27, 2011 06:11 AM

very cool and well-done! The design of your tabs and header are clean, sharp. Good job!

very nice design! Lite, clean, fitting w the topic.
Only thing that I'd offer a suggestion on is making the menu items/text stand out more. Other than, very nice site. Good work!

The site Bærum Cultural Council is also in this same line of design, made by Ingebjørg Thoresen and myself.

SupraTT Mar 2, 2011 02:40 AM

Nice work. How come you put your site in a subfolder (wordpress)?

Recently launched this one - http://corenutrition.info.

Styled to look like a website (as opposed to a blog).

runnerb0y Mar 2, 2011 09:52 AM

Your Core Nutrition site looks VERY GOOD! Nice work!

One small critique. In your Conditions Treated page, you use a green text that is a little difficult to read. Maybe you could darken it up a bit?? Other than that small nitpicking issue, you have done a fantastic job!!

Innocent Mar 2, 2011 12:27 PM

Two months of blood, sweat, tears, css, html, php, and here it is, my first site :)

Thanks for that runnerb0y, having looked at it again tend to agree and will try a darker shade.

Cheers,

Mick

Wow - quite something, and first time off the block! A lot of work gone into it - nice one.

Innocent Mar 2, 2011 03:04 PM

Thanks!

There are some things I'll have to improve, but I am very happy that I managed to go this far.
And I am happy that I found this theme, without it this wouldn't be near possible.

Some of you know of my online newspaper, the Larchmont Gazette. http://larchmontgazette.com Publication has stopped, because my partner and I needed to move on to other projects, and nobody in town has stepped up to take over the publication.

We just received a wonderful email from a news publisher in Australia. He said he had stumbled upon the Gazette when just beginning to think about starting his own online newspaper, and was inspired by our work. He decided to use Wordpress and Atahualpa, and "has never regretted the decision." Here's the result: http://www.surfcoastnews.com.au/

shantanugoel Mar 13, 2011 09:55 AM

Hi Guys

I finally switched over to Atahualpa after dilly-dallying for quite a while. I'm pretty noobish in css etc and spent only a few hours on customizing it but here is the initial output http://tech.shantanugoel.com Please check it out and let me know if you have any suggestions.

Hello
it's a brutal website about dictators. If you guys think it's not appropriate feel free to remove this link:
http://www.burnadictator.com/blog

Theme is just uber useful for my needs. I just put lot of black backgrounds and white title color for blog to look aggressive because of it's content. I just launched this morning (GMT time) so there is lot's of works to do.

The theme is great!

I used to have the FallSeason theme created by Sadish Bala (http://wpthemepark.com/themes/fallseason) for my WP site. Since the theme has not been updated for a while, I decided to make Atahualpa look like FallSeason. The result of my effort is

http://pushih.com

(Note: This is Chinese website).

I also have another site using the Atahualpa theme at http://ypchen.com

I like Atahualpa very much and thank you for making such a great theme.

Thanks for the compliments! You can make something as nice with Atahualpa, just need to make sure you have the site layout planned out and some php code.

@SupraTT - You may have shared this before but do you mind sharing what you are using for the slides on your site?

Hi Larry, for the "slides" I am using PHP if statements to determine which DIVs to appear and which "class" to be active.

Jam Mar 24, 2011 11:35 PM

I've been an Atahualpa fan for a while now, the following are all Atahualpa, some with more hacking than others. I'm still finding new ways to individualise this theme, but just love it.

and for a very different look... http://www.alphamodels.com.au/

Edit from original post - some sites removed, now my own ThemeFrame themes or not ATA

http://www.megedizioni.it/ is the first website I made with Atahualpa. It's a great theme to work with, I'll keep making a donation for every site I'll build with it; I think it's a fair deal to share the good results with the developers.

Well, I've finally plucked up the courage to make my site live!

Railway Holidays

Still LOTS I want to do but decided I'd never launch if I kept waiting until it was finished in my eyes!

Any comments (all kinds) welcomed.

Must say thanks to everyone involved with Atahualpa - I used it to transfer my literary mag over to Wordpress earlier in the year, and with very little compromise in terms of visual design. This week I rolled out the first new issue since the change and it was as easy as I'd hoped.

If I were to do it again I might build up from a bare-bones 'naked' theme, but Atahualpa has been a massive learning experience and I've got a much better grasp of Wordpress and PHP in general because of it. So thanks again for the resource!
