[SOLVED] Custom include on the homepage only.... i have a headache from this ... plea
 

I am almost finished with my project and this last piece has got me really stuck - been reading help files for two hours and can't figure this out.

All i want to do is add an include which displays a flash piece and an image, on the homepage, right under the menu bar.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am using the latest version of wordpress... & Atahualpa 3.6.4

I actually just figured out how to make a custom template - I was missing some header code that allowed wordpress to notice that the file is meant to be a template...

but now I'm not sure where to put the code, or how to do it best...
I want the flash and text stuck just beneath the menu bar like this:

You might want to add a new widget area to the 'Configure Header Area' option and then put the flash in a widget

Can you give me a starting point for that?
How will it make it so that the widget spans the entire length of the page?

This is starting to look very promising now...
I just need to figure out why the flash piece doesn't show up ---
and then REALLY::: how to make it only show on the homepage and not the others.
