Changing layout for pages but not posts

Hi all!
My blog has different types of information in pages and posts. I would like to change the layout of my pages so that they have a narrower column, and more padding. I have a feeling I need to create a custom template as in this thread, which I'm comfortable with, but how would I then edit the template to change the width of the center column? Or is there a better way to do this?
Many thanks in advance,
Tim

you can create CSS that is tied to a page or all 'page' pages vers 'post' pages. This is a theme option, but you can use css selectors and rules in teh CSS Inserts section to do this.

Can you provide an example of how you would control this with css and rules?

I want a full width page template, but the standard blog entries on my blog page.

So I created a new page template by copying index.php and renaming it, then inserting the PHP element at the top. I get the template, but editing it to keep the center column but drop the sidebars is not clear to me.

If all you want to do is drop the sidebars on certain pages or categories you can do that with the Atahualpa Options under Style & Configure SIDEBARS.
