Graphical links in tables

I don't know if this is usual or not - the code sure looks messy.

I am tabulating graphical links on a page using a table.
I have set colours for links but the colours don't always show on the graphic captions - i.e. sometimes the words are blue sometimes they are grey?

As I said, the code looks messy (which is always a bad sign) so i wonder if I am doing something illegal or wrong here?

A WIP website:

A copy of the messy code:
<!-- Table for photo display -->
<table border="0" width="95%">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td width="12%"><a href = "http://sparkleweaver.co.uk/?page_id=35">
[caption id="attachment_56" width="150" caption="A beautiful abalaone necklace"]<img src="http://sparkleweaver.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/jewels-053_a-150x150.jpg" alt="" title="Necklace" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-56" />[/caption]</a></td>
Be gentle!

Within the Atahualpa options there are settings for link styles and table styles etc. Sometimes these will conflict with or override intended styling. If you look in those areas of the theme options you may find some clues to your situation.
