[SOLVED] Will my Atahulpa settings be intact if I upgrade Wordpress to 4.2 ?

With prior upgrades I had to redo my settings in Atahulpa.

Hi, me again ,

Read your article 2010 article HOWTO: upgrade Atahualpa to a new version

Does that mean we do not need to create child themes if we properly backup and put our images logo and favicon in an external file?

And where is WordPress database file (files)?

TIA

Best regards

Kemal

yes

HTML Code:

And where is WordPress database file (files)?
where ever your host has put them. Using pgpMyAdmin to do a MySQL export of the database is 'backing it up'.

Me again,

in your 2010 article you write:

Doing an automatic upgrade is simpler but no matter which way you do it BACKUP YOUR DATABASE AND WP*CONFIG FOLDER FIRST

However under /wordpress directory I don't have a wpconfig folder but only single wp-config.php file size of 3.154.

My question: will I be safe by downloading by FTP to my computer the wp-admin, wp-includes, wp-content directories and sub directories and also the database using wp-dbmanager plugin?

TIA

Best regards

Kemal

That should have read (and I've changed it
BACKUP YOUR DATABASE, WP-CONFIG.PHP FILE AND THE WP-CONTENT FOLDER FIRST
You do not need to backup the wp-admin or wp-includes folders since they are only changed by wordpress and every install includes them.

1) backup your database (use phpMyAdmin to do a database export)
2) backup the wp-config.php file
3) backup the wp-content folder

you will have to look at wp-dbmanager plugin and see what it does yourself.

Personally I use the paid plugin backupbuddy for backing up my sites on a scheduled basis

Thank you,

This put great relief on my mind, now I can proceed with much confidence

Hi again,

I want my visitors to see every site item in Turkish, when I choose Turkish in Settings->General->Site Language only administration site becomes Turkish, not my site: www.kemalgencay.com. How can I do it?

TIA

Best regards

Take a look in the Languages & Translations to see if there is a translation. If not, you are going to have to create one.

The .pot file is in the atahualpa folder for you to use.

If you need an explaition of how to use the .pot file, do a google search and you will find them

1- I inspected and found div.post-footer, the div I am interested to change to Turkish, however my (half) educated guess is that some php function must have created the css file, if so which one?

2-I could not meet any mo and fo file so that I can translate into Turkish, are there any?

TIA

1 - post footer have you looked at ATO->Edit POST/PAGE INFO ITEMS->FOOTER: xxxxxxxxxxxx

2 - ther is no .po or .mo - you need to use poedit to create them

I made fresh install of WordPress in Turkish+Atahualpa on my site
From Settings->General for Date Format I choose 29/03/2016
Then I go to ATO->Edit POST/PAGE INFO ITEMS, I scroll down to FOOTER:Multi Post Pages, then I change %date from (F jS, Y) to (d m Y) and I expect it to display 29/03/2016 but it displays: Mart 26th, 2016 ! (Mart is March in Turkish)

I do the same for FOOTER:Single Post Pages, same problem!

Any suggestions on how I can get it to display 29/03/2016 please?

TIA

Best regards

works for me. go and double check what you entered. If it seems reasonable, go to ATO->Export/Import and export your settings and attach them to a reply (use the paper clip icon)

This is the correct file

Actually everything is working just like you have told it to. Go back and look at the settings

Kemal Mar 29, 2016 08:20 PM

Bingo, finally working, thanks.

BTW I intend to contribute a detailed step-by-step procedure both in Turkish and in English on how to proceed on installing local site, doing every detail here, and export it to internet.

So will this thread be a right place to communicate with you?
