Hiring - Improve site speed and tweak plugins

I have an Atahualpa site (www.ourkingscross.org) in need of some cleanup. I can handle basic tweaks but I'm running up to my limitations.

Specific items include:
-- Improve homepage loading speed to avg. page load of <2 seconds. (It is ridiculously slow right now).
-- Fix Twitter widget. (worked intermittently and is currently disabled)
-- Fix calendar plugin and widget. We use Google calendar for the raw feed, but we're having problems with the calendar plugin properly updating events.
-- Several random image alignment issues.

If this project is handled well, there is significantly more work available on this site and several others (www.schatzmold.com, www.leadtestingseattle.com).

Is this site hosted on GoDaddy? domain tools shows 4,124 other sites hosted on the same server
in addition it is sending 2.3MB of data for teh page - way way too much.

Yes, it is hosted on a deluxe hosting account at GoDaddy with about 8 or 10 other sites. I'm not sure how many other company's sites are hosted on that server as well. It sounds like quite a few. However, our other sites within that same deluxe account load quickly, so I believe the problem is on my end.

Where do you think the biggest culprit lies? The slideshow includes a video, is it loading the whole video with the initial page load? Amazingly this page scores a 94 on PageSpeed, which clearly is not an indication of real world speed.

I would disable all plugins and then load the site and look at the speed. Then add the plugins back one at a time checking the loadtime to find the culprit.

You also might want to look at a caching pluging

Thanks for the tips. I'll see what I can find by checking the plugins. It looks like the sliderpro is a significant culprit. Any recommendations on someone to hire if I need additional assistance?
