Atahualpa - "A Sample Text Widget" which shouldn't be there

I updated my version of WP and Atahualpa yesterday. I had been terribly remiss in updates prior to this. I don't use the site too much but want to change that, hence the renewed interest.

PROBLEM: Every page now has a text box that is headed "A Sample Text Widget" and has two paragraphs of the standard latin nonsense in it. It has the same appearance as other items which appear next to it such as "Categories," "Archives" and "Recent Posts."

I have no idea how to get rid of this box.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Here is the text:

A sample text widget

Etiam pulvinar consectetur dolor sed malesuada. Ut convallis euismod dolor nec pretium. Nunc ut tristique massa.

Nam sodales mi vitae dolor ullamcorper et vulputate enim accumsan. Morbi orci magna, tincidunt vitae molestie nec, molestie at mi. Nulla nulla lorem, suscipit in posuere in, interdum non magna.

Because of changes to Atahualpa you will need to:

  • Save Header, Center, and Footer Sections (hit the green save button)
  • Copy the widgets you had in the sidebars from inactive back into the proper sidebars (This will get rid of the widget you mention which is default)
  • Change the image locations to wp-content/ata-images after creating an ata-images
  • Reupload the necessary images into that folder
There are quite a few threads about these various changes.

Thanks so much for your help!

My next question, unfortunately, is how do I get the wordpress folders back? I updated from version 2.9.9 to the current version yesterday. I guess when you don't update for that long you pay the price! Now, when I go to the FTP there are NO wp files/folders.

You need to go look in the backup that you did before you did this major update. You should find your header images in the wp-content/themes/athalupa/images/header folder.

If you didn't do a complete backup, you will need to contact your host and see if they can help you or find the original images and use them.
