How to Keep old format in 351 upgrade

I have a WP 3.0 multi-site installation (upgraded from WPMU 2.9.2). I upgraded my Atahualpa theme, which is on all the subdomains as well as the main level, from 3.4.6 to 3.5.1. It worked well and the old format was retained. However, when I recently added a new blog/subdomain site, it showed up with the new 351 format. Is there a way to keep the old formatting?

With a little more research I saw that on the BFA download page and under the WP admin menues appearance>atahualpa theme options>Import/Export Settings, there were instructions, i.e., upload/import ata-classic.txt from styles folder in download folder on my PC. Where can I see examples of the other styles mentioned in the import/export settings page? What were the default styles for 346 and 349?

the new style starting points were added somewhere after 3.4.6 - it may have been 3.4.9 but I'm away from my computer and can't check.

Thanks for the quick reply Juggledad. When you get a chance, let me know where I can see examples of the other styles, in case I want to move over to that. Is the default style for 349 classic or something else?

Just export your style then do an import from the styles folder. You must have this folder on your computer, just down load a copy and unzipped it.

Then when you have seen the new starting points, you can always reimport your style.

JD, I also want to keep the 3.4.6 style with the 3.5.1 theme (needed to fix the Auto Draft glitch) but I don't understand the process. I don't see a "export style" option in WordPress or in the Atahualapa menus. Or am I missing it?

Hi Griffin - the import/export option is at the top of the atahualpa theme options menu - just below start.

If you have a pre-formatted site - as wadams does - for safety start by exporting your current settings. Give the file a name you'll recognise and save is somewhere safe on your computer.

You will need to have downloaded the theme from the BFA website and unzipped it to your computer - in order to get the "styles" folder on your computer. (this DOESN'T work if you install it automatically via Wordpress)

Then, you can back to export/import and then browse to the "styles" folder on your computer and import each style in turn to see what it looks like. Note - the one called "round" is round in all browsers except Internet Destroyer - which has to be different. If you can't see what I mean, install Firefox or Chrome to see the difference.

If necessary, when you have finished experimenting you can then re-import your original exported format.

Hope that helps.

Rosetrees, thanks for your help.

The option to import/export is only visible in the 3.5.1 version. I don't see it in the 3.4.6 version and those are the settings I want.

Or am I confused/missing something?

When you upgrade to 3.5.1all your settings will be there because they are stored in the database. Install 351 in it's own folder so you can swap back and forth between the old release.

A new feature with 351 is the ability to export the styling you have done to your site. So if you styled a site and liked it and then create another site, you could import the style from the first site and the two would look the same.

It's also a great debugging tool. I could have you export your style and send it to me, I can import it and see what you have done...or not done... And it helps solve issues

Yep, I understand what exporting offers for creating a new site, JD.

But I'm trying to keep the current site looking the same under 3.5.1 as it was under 3.4.6.

I have both themes in separate folders so I can switch back and forth easily. But I still can't figure out how to get 3.5.1 to look like the old style. I'm guessing that when I also tried to install 3.4.9, something got messed up.

So is there a manual way of getting 3.4.6 style settings exported/copied so I can import them when I flip to 3.5.1?

oh, yes 3.4.9 could have messed things up. go to ato->Export/Import Settings->Delete the option 'bfa_ata4' and press the button. This will delete the bfa_ata4 row from the wp-options table and recreate it from the old settings that are still in the db.

starting with 3.4.7, Flynn changed where the settings were stored from individual rows in the wp-option table, to one row for faster access. there were some bugs that were resolved in 3.5.1.

If you have problems because of a previous install, deleting the BFA_ATA4 row will cause the theme to recreate the row from the prior theme options (If it's a fresh install, it creates teh bfa_ata4 row from some defaults)

once you start making changes in 3.5.1, using this option will wipe out the changes you have made, but in this case, use it and you should see your settings show up.

Hi, I'm really confused here.. I have Ata 3.45 and I want to take my 3.45 settings into 3.51 - however I see nothing that you guys mention about import/export or anything else. As for swapping back and forth... is that a suggestion that I go back and forth copying everything one thing at a time? Isn't there another way to do this?

Thanks.

When you install 351 all your settings should automatically be there.
