when i add in the css:
margin-top: -50px;
the links go on top of each other. any idea why that is? here is the css insert:

div#menu1 {
background-color: #;
}
ul.rMenu li {
height: 23px;
margin-left: 30px;
margin-top: -50px;

That option is messing with the whole structure. The menu's are based on the Ruthsarian's rMenu (http://webhost.bridgew.edu/etribou/layouts/) if you want to play with it, you should go read about it. If you get it to work, please share your success with the other here.
