Where do I put google analytics?
I am trying to install google analytics on my Atahualpa theme. Where do I put that please?
Sorry newbie question. |
Look in the Add HTML/CSS Inserts section of the theme options
|
or use one of the many google analytics plugins...
|
or do a forum search and see this has been answered many times....

If I'm using Atahualpa 3.6.4 which doesn't have the updated instructions for adding the google asynchronous snippet but I want to add it to it would I insert it into the header HTML insert? Would that make the code end up right before the </header> tag?
|
try it - the best way to learn
|
Well I put it into the header insert and it pretty much shows up right in the middle with a lot stuff between it and the </head>.
Now what difference was made in the new version of Atahualpa in regards to the google analytics insert? With the new one was there any coding changes or did it just say to put the code in the header? |
Where exact did you put it? IE ato->?????????
name the option action and option name where you put it |
There WAS a change to the wording of where it should go as the HTML Inserts: Header is the suggested place. However it COULD go in HTML Inserts: Body Bottom as used to be indicated.
|
In the theme options I put it in html/css inserts > html inserts: header > in the box underneath.
It's in the header but it's not right before </head>, there is quite a bit more code between it and the end of the header. |
What is the url?
|
@Gwtrans... Is analytics working?
|
@lmilesw: Yes the google analytics code is working.
@juggledad: I'm private messaging you the link now. |
3.6.4 puts the contents of 'HTML Inserts: Header' near the top of the <head>
3.7.3 puts the contents of 'HTML Inserts: Header' just bfore teh </head> that is in a vanalla install, it is possible that other plugins could cause it to shift. |
So to be able to put it right before </head> I would need a plugin or edit the theme files?
Anyone know the downsides of having the code too high up? |

update to 3.7.3

Well it works and we made some changes to the theme to get it to look the way we wanted so we don't really want to have to update just because of google analytics. Is there any plugins for analytics that put it where it's supposed to be?
