new widget area will not show up on dasboard
 

I have tried refreshing, etc. Then I tried deleting the new widget area to make a new one. it still shows up on the website, but not on the dashboard. When i try once again to delete the new widget area, i get this message.

Custom widget areas deleted...

To delete a widget area you must
1) remove the widgets in the widget area
2) remove the code that creates the widget area
3) go to the new widget area option and check Marx the widget area and delete it
