White stripe across top of page

how do I remove that white stripe over the header and make it uniform with the page background. At the same time it would probably be nice to increase the width of it a little. I expect it's in CSS somewhere but can not find it.

The white bar is %bar1 at Theme Options -> Header -> Configure Header Area

The width of what?

thank you - sorted it out. I meant "height" not width which I've now changed to 10px
