[SOLVED] header image not showing

So I couldn't seem to post a new post and so this is not exactly about this topic but when I went to post somewhere else I was not able to and I'm getting a bit frustrated. I uploaded via Filezilla a header image into the theme folder. It is not showing up. I refreshed. Someone else said you had to add the name of the image somewhere but I don't see where that might be. I am not entirely sure my image is the right size but I don't know how to ensure that. Thank you!!

what version off Atahualpa and WP?
What is your url?
what folder did you put your image in?
What is the images file name?

Hi! Thank you for your response.

Ata 3.7.1 (but just upgraded - it happened with previous version also)
W.P. 3.2.1
bgirlguide.com
wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/header
bgirl_gerber_daisy2.jpg

If I go through the themes options to the header, it shows up (although the sizing is off and only showing up in the very center - not sure how to work out the sizing) but when I go straight through to the URL - as anyone else would - it does not.

Thank you!

Cath.

Your image shows up, you might have to refresh the page a couple times.
The images in the atahualpa/images/header folder will rotate (either automatically or on a manual refresh). If you want only your image to show, remove the other images.

Your image is only 332x152 and that is the size it is showing.

header images will span the size of the page and are generally not too tall - I generally have my max page width set to 1440px and the header image height at 150px so I want an image that is 1440x150

How do you do this? Use a photo editing program to crop your image to the size you want to use.
When you take a photo or choose an image you should do it in LANDSCAPE mode so it is wider and only expect to use a narrow sliver of it. Think of it this way. If an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper is your image, you can cut a 1 inch strip from it. That is the part of the image you will use, so you have to change the way you thing about taking images. don't take close ups that fill the image since most of it will be unusable, take long shots.

Thank you. I get it now. I didn't take the picture - it came via Flickr but I was able to download a larger size and work from there. Thank you!!
