[SOLVED] Inserting Meta Tags Homepage: Yoast SEO

Hey, I'm not very familiar with editing wordpress and configuring the theme files. I've searched and didn't find what I was looking for. Perhaps someone could give me guidance.

I am using Atahualpa Version 3..6.7 and I believe the latest version of Wordpress.

I am looking to edit the meta description, title and keywords of my static homepage. At the moment, I have no meta content for my homepage. I am using Yoast SEO and it does not give me the option to add meta tags to my static homepage. I do not wish to use Atahualpa's seo.

My question is...

What files do I need to edit to insert the meta content for my static homepage?
What exactly is the format for the meta title, descrption, keywords etc.?

Any help is greatly appreciated...thanks!

I have applied the ones as they pertain to me...the Yoast Seo and Double Title Patches.

You should install ALL the patches as the issues that are mentioned may not be the only things they pertain to.

Okay, I installed all the necessary patches.

so have you looked at the SEO settings that the plugin provides?

Yoast SEO has metakey words turned off my default since search engines use them very little if at all for search ranking. See yoast.com/meta-keywords

Juggledad: Yes. I see the option for providing the title and meta description template for the homepage but I don't understand where to put the description. Am i misunderstanding the word template...is that where I put my unique homepage description?

With the Yoast Seo plugin, am I missing out by not having a meta description for my homepage?

Thanks

the way to check is put something there, view the page and then look at the source and see what it did. Does it create a meta description?

That is a judgment call that you must decide. If you do a search you will find this link n google: http://www.google.com/support/webmas...y?answer=35264 which says:

While accurate meta descriptions can improve clickthrough, they won't impact your ranking within search results.

The Yoast SEO plugin adds a section to each page and post with one box labled
"Meta Description:"
If you don't see the SEO section go to screen option and turn it on.
