How to import my blog from Blogger
Hello,
I am using the Atahualpa theme to do my Fine Art Website http://www.marymcandrew.com , with many static pages. Now I'm ready to import my Nature Sketching blog (www.marymcandrew.blogspot.com) that I have had on Blogger for over two years. How do I do this? Are there things I have to do to make sure I don't lose information after all that hard work? I am ready to start linking old posts to my gallery pages. A note, I don't know anything about CSS!...so far it's been lots of trial and error by poking around. PS. I LOVE this theme! Mary |

Are there any issues with importing a large number (maybe 1000) blogspot entries into Wordpress?

Not sure about posts or pages but importing ~1000 comments wasn't a problem for me recently.
If you're using the Wordpress import/export function which creates a XML file (opposed to i.e. a MySQL import with mysqldump) then the max upload file size of PHP or the web server may have to be increased. I had a export/import XML file size of slightly over 2 MB and those max upload settings were 2 MB. |
I just successfully moved over and HIGHLY recommend you read this page:

I imported my blogs from Blogger with no problem what so ever. I did worry about it but all I did was have my blogger dashboard open and signed into, clicked import from blogger...zoom...done is seconds! couldn't believe how easy it was. I imported the second blog wondering how it would all end up, those posts just got stuck in by dates throughout my blog (on wordpress website).
I went back and cleaned up tags and categories so more of them matched. BTW, labels on blogger become categories on WP and you end up with this gigantic list. You can go to the categories page and convert to tags at the bottom all at once. Then just set up your list of categories anew. All my sidebar information didn't come over but I was pleased when I copied and pasted my entire long lists of links and pasted it to a "new page" on the website. I created a links page and ALL the LINKS were live!! yay!! I thought I'd have to retype all the addresses by hand. Check it out: www.marymcandrew.com |
