How Do I Edit the Contents of a Widget?

I am brand new to WordPress and selected the Atahualpa theme which I really like so far. In the right sidebar I deleted a number of links that have nothing to do with my website. That was easy.

However, I have a widget entitled META and want to do two things with it but cannot figure out how. I've searched everywhere and cannot find the answer. I want to:

1. Change the title of the widget from Meta to Log In
2. Delete the link to the WordPress page so the user has only 2 choices, register or log in.

Thanks

the META widget is a WordPress widget that is built into WordPress. If you want to change it, you are going to have to dig into the wordpress code.

You could do a google search using 'wordpress login widget' and see if there are any hits and try any that show up. Or you could add a text widget and use the 'exec php' plugin and add the login code to it - ie roll your own.

Where and how do I find the WordPress code for that widget?

Is there another widget that functions just as a Register / Log In widget? If that's the case, I don't need this widget.

If there is such a widget, since I'm brand new to WordPress, can you give me some guidance on how to get it onto my web page?

Thanks

1 - a dig into the code
2 - re- read my last post
3 - the plugin/widget will have its own instructions

I would just delete the widget and create a new text widget, with links to your login and register URLs.
