[SOLVED] Putting custom non-page links in the page menu bar.
I searched and found some threads that mentioned doing this, but I still can't seem to figure it out.
I'm using Atahualpa 3.4.9, and I'm basically just trying to put my own custom links in the page menu bar instead of links to pages. Any idea how I can make this happen? Thanks in advance for any help. |
With 3.4.9 you would need to use something like the Page Links To plugin which lets you assign a URL to a page or post. With 3.5.3 and WordPress 3.0.1 you can use a custom menu item to link to anywhere without the need to create a dummy page or post.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll definitely check out that plugin, but is that truly the only option for 3.4.9? I was thinking that there should be a spot in the code somewhere where I can remove the code that calls for pages to be linked to and then just replace it with my own <a href="whatever">whatever</a> and so on, but just looking around some code myself, I couldn't find that spot (if it actually exists in the first place). Does it is exist? Thanks again for the help. |
the code that builds the page menu is bfa_hor_pages.php but it's probably a lot easier to just use the 'Page Links To' plugin, then you won't have to go back and redo the code changes each time the theme is upgraded.

Yup, you're right. I ended up just using your first suggestion and upgrading to 3.5.3 (no idea why I was putting that off) and did what I needed to do with a custom menu. Took 2 quite and easy minutes.
Thanks! |
