Error comes up when uploading images

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Wordpress.

I am currently helping out my friend to build his website using Wordpress.
He set me up a Account (Administrator use) and I am trying to upload images to Library or in the post.

But when I try, I either get Error message saying something like:
I couldn't upload the image to /home/**********/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/06. Do you have the authority to upload a image to this directory?

Is this mean, I need to ask my friend to set something on his server so I can have the authority to upload images? (* I CAN upload text).

Any support will be appreciated!

Thank you.

This indicates a permission problem withthe folder you are attempting to load the images to. I suggest you review the WordPress install doc and the codex on changing file permissions (see Http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions)

juggledad,

Thank you for the quick respond.

I am very new to all the WP so the link you gave was bit difficult for me.

I ask my friend a permission to look into the ftp and try to change the permission on index.php but still I'm having problem with uploading image.

Which file do I need to change the permission so I can upload images on my friend's WP?

Anyone who could help is appreciated.

You need to change the permission for the directory /wp-content/uploads/

If you don't know about permissions proceed with caution and if the link to teh codex was hard to understand, then I'd suggest you find someone who can hold your hand while you do this. The two extremes of messing up the permisisons are that you could allow anyone to mess with your site or you could prevent your site from running.

Sound like I should ask somebody for help then...

Thank you very much for supporting.
