[SOLVED] Added header images cut off on both sides

I've gotten as far as uploading my new header images. They are in the same folder as the defaults, which I don't want to delete until I'm sure the new ones work like I want them to.

I made the new images 1300x160. But when they display, they only go over the center section, and not the left and right sidebars, like the default images do. This leaves white space on both sides of the image, above the sidebars, and I don't like the looks of this.

Please advise, what can I do to fix this?

I've tried different image dimensions, or none, but none of these ideas has produced the desired results.

Thanks!

what version of Atahualpa and WP?
What is the url?

WordPress 3.5.1
Atahualpa 3.7.10

You'll see the three default images, as well as two I've uploaded.

(Changed the file extensions from JPG to jpg, so that hosting system would recognize the images as images, instead of text. This has made no difference to how the images display.)

so what is the size of your images?
what is the height you have specified for the header image (check the theme options)
what is the width of the site? (check the theme options)

Yeah...got it!

In answering your questions about size, I found I was cropping my images a second time without realizing it.

I had a preset of 800px at the point where I moved the images from my main picture file to an export folder, ready to upload to the host server.

Once I changed that to "use original size" they work fine.

Thanks! This newbie is having fish for dinner!
