[SOLVED] Comments Closed is showing
After the last update, 'comments are closed' is showing again, even though my settings are for all footers the same as following:
Code:
%comments('Kommentar abgeben', 'Ein Kommentar', '% Kommentare', '')% Can anyone cornfirm that? Thanks! Gilbert. EDIT: Hard-coding comments.php does not cure anything! Code:
<?php // echo $bfa_ata['comments_are_closed_text'] ; ?> |
what do you have at ato->Style & configure COMMENTS->Comments Are Closed text ?
|
It's empty ... :-\
I've removed that "years" ago. |
interesting - when I remove it, the message goes away.
try this put something in it and save it - look at the page - does the message change? if so, remove it and save and look at it again. |
Nope! Does not change anything.
I've even disabled W3TC and cleared the browser's cache. EDIT: I have the same issue on another site, too. |
have you tried disabling all your plugins?
other than that, I'd have to actually get in ant poke about. |
One thing I can tell you, it's NOT Antahualpa!
BUT, I just updated a plugin : SPAM FREE WORDPRESS Version 1.8.6! That's the perpetrator! Great! Now I have to get them to fix whatever they've broken! Thanks, juggledad! |
I shall close this thread as resolved.

I tried to talk to Todd (the guy who makes Spam Free Wordpress) but closed my thread leaving this:

Is there a way to disable the comment function all together? I don't need comments on one site, so I don't want the "Comments are closed." message at the bottom of every post (not pages though). I have removed all occurences of "Comments are closed." and "Comments_are_closed" in all the files I could find it but it is still being displayed! What can I do to get rid of "Comments are closed."? Thanks! |
I would suggest looking for another plugin because he is wrong - his plugin is causing the issue
To prove it do the following 1) disable the plugin 2) go to ato->Style & configure COMMENTS->Comments Are Closed text and enter HTML Code:
<p>atahualpa says comments are closed</p> 4) in the front end go visit the post - you will see HTML Code:
atahualpa says comments are closed HTML Code:
Comments are closed <p class="nocomments">Comments are closed.</p> I personally also have an issue with any free plugin that requires me to register - this means they are 'checking in' each time it is used and I always have to wonder what are they collecting... also any plugin or theme author that won't spend the time to 'consider' thier product may have an error is someonw I choose to stay away from. |
juggledad, you don't have to convince me, that this is a plugin "error"!
But I thank you for your answer! I just did what you said, not that I didn't already know this was going to happen, but just to make sure I didn't miss anything! :-) Yes, it is Spam Free WordPress that's causing this sort-of-an-error! Thanks again, juggledad! I'll get back with Todd again... |
You know what?! You're right!
Spam Free Wordpress is gone! I'd rather mess with spam that a plugin that does stuff I don't know about! Thanks again! |
