Cannot remove one Page from page menu

Page menu bar has a page in it which is not yet ready and I simply cannot make it go away.
Here's what I have done so far:
1) Added the page number to the "Exclude pages from Page Menu Bar" box
2) I use the pageMash plugin for purposes outside of Athualpa, and I have "hidden" the page using that plugin
3) I have changed the visibility of the page to Private.
4) I have changed the status to "Draft"

I suppose I could just send it to trash and build it again later, but I'd rather learn what I am doing wrong.

I would just use the WordPress menu builder (Appearance>Menus). I used to do what you are doing and it was a pain to get the menus in the right order and making sure they didn't show before I wanted them to. With the WP menu builder you just drag and drop the pages to where you want and only add a menu tab when the page is ready.
