[SOLVED] comments don't work now

Hi Flynn,

My comments stopped working a while ago. When you click on "leave a comment" now, nothing happens. Is this something related to the Atahulapa theme? It might have happened when I upgraded to Wordpress 2.9. (I now have 2.9.1.) I have comments enabled in the discussion settings. I haven't upgraded to Atahualpa 3.4.5 yet. Would that fix it?

My url is: http://www.ellifolks.com/blog/

(Donation made.) Thanks for your help! :)

is this happening on post's or pages?
Did you change your permalinks at some point?

Hi juggledad,

It happens on posts and pages. If I go to the page of an individual post and click on "leave a comment", comments from all different posts show up, not necessarily that post. It still doesn't let you leave a comment, though.

I did change the permalinks quite a long time ago. The problem just started recently, though. I think it was around the time I upgraded to Wordpress 2.9. The permalinks were set to this:
/%category%/%postname%/

Thanks!

Ellen

if you swap to the default theme does it work?

daisy24 Jan 29, 2010 03:06 PM

Yes! I just tried swapping to the default theme. The comments now work. On the Manage Themes page under Broken Themes, it says:

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
Name Description
wordpress Stylesheet is missing.

I'm not sure what that means. Besides Atahualpa and and Wordpress Default, I have Wordpress Classic and MistyLook themes installed.

I do want to keep the Atahualpa theme as my theme though. If I upgrade to 3.4.5, do you think that will fix it?

Thank you, juggledad! :)

look in each of the folders that in teh wp-contents/themes folder. Each one should have a file called 'style.css' and if you look at that file, it should tell you the name of the theme. Which folder is missing the style.css?

In the themes folder, there are actually 5 themes: Atahualpa, classic, default, Mistylook, and one that just says Wordpress. The one that just says Wordpress is the one without a style sheet. I'm not sure what that one is. It doesn't show up on my admin themes installed page.

Hi juggledad,

I upgraded to version 3.4.5.1, and that seems to have fixed the problem. Maybe my Atahualpa theme got corrupted when I upgraded to Wordpress 2.9? The comments seem to showing correctly now and the blog lets you leave comments. Thank you for all your help!! :)
