relative url in header area
 

I'm working in the "Style and Edit Header Area".
I've placed <img src="dot.gif"> in there to find out what directory I need to place dot.gif
I've had dot.gif in root (/), wp-content, wp-content/uploads, wp-content/themes, wp-content/themes, wp-content/themes/atahualpa, wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images, wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/header

I'm having a navigational problem with a flash file I've created and I think using an absolute URL is my problem.
