Feed Burner

I thought I would find something in here with the search box about using feed burner with the theme, but I didn't see any thing so here it goes.

Since the theme already comes with an rss feed, do you really need feed burner for that? Seems like duplication. However, feed burner does seem to have some advantages like the stats you can get by using it.

Does any one know if it is possible to get the states without adding the the code for another rss feed button, or would I be better to remove the one that came with the theme? Lastly, if I would be better to remove the rss feed button that came with the theme, how would I do that.

Thanks for any help.

Laura;)

To replace the image but keep it in the same location in the layout, upload a new post-feed-small.gif to atahualpa/images and overwrite (or rename) the existing one

To add a new button at another place, turn off the default button at Theme Optiosn -> RSS settings, and then add your own one i.e. with a plugin or a text widget in the sidebar.

With a text widget, hover over the existing button first to figure out the link, then put into the text widget something like

<a href="http://www.yoursite.com/feed/"><img src="/your/image.gif" alt="Subscribe" /></a>

The way Atahualpa uses Feedburner is conservative, the link to Feedburner is not hard coded on purpose. Instead, you'll need to install the Feedburner Feedsmith plugin which will redirect subscribers to Feedburner, on the fly, for as long as you have Feedsmith activated.

Whether using Feedburner is good or not I don't know, some people insist on keeping everything on site and not using too many external services to avoid the dependence.
