[SOLVED] Static Home Page Displaying New Posts

Okay, I have a really strange problem that I just can't figure out. I'm working on a client's site that I've set up with Wordpress 3.0 and Atahualpa 3.5.1.

I have the site (an outfitting company site) set up with a static front page with a Recent Posts slider powered by Slidedeck Lite, followed by the page content. I have a separate blog page set up called News & Events. There are two existing posts, both in the only existing category, News and Events.

My problem is that any new posts that I publish go not only to the News & Events page, as they should, but also to the home page, where they display above where the slider should be--and occasionally the slider disappears as well.

A screenshot of what I'm talking about:

http://pinelandoutfittersofidaho.com...creenshot1.jpg

What it should look like:

http://pinelandoutfittersofidaho.com...screenshot.jpg

In the source code, it looks like so:

Code:

<div class="post-48 page type-page hentry post" id="post-48">
    <div class="post-headline">
        <h1>Home</h1>
    </div>

    <div class="post-bodycopy clearfix">
      <p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-208" title="Traditional bow hunter ready to go!" src="http://pinelandoutfittersofidaho.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG017-2.jpg" alt="Traditional bow hunter ready to go!" width="303" height="448" /> Once again as the dog days of summer are draining us all and we anticipate those cooler days and nights which signify the changing of the seasons, it is time to get ready for that fall hunt. We are featuring archery elk hunts during September for a camp of 3.</p>

What should be on the front page? You say you have it set as a static front page so I don't know how you are getting posts there.

The front page should be simply a static page, with a Slidedeck slider displaying the latest posts at the top, as in the second screenshot.

I have the home page set as a static page in Wordpress, with the blog set to the News & Events page.

Link to Site

I can't figure out for the life of me why posts are showing up before the slider. The first two posts are only where they should be; on the blog page. Any other posts I make show up not only on the blog, but also the home page. Going through the code isn't throwing up any obvious signs as to why, and I'm really not that great with PHP, so I thought I'd come to the creators of the theme.

I have no idea why post are showing up above the slider but it has to be related to the slider. When you add new posts are you putting them in the same category as the posts that are there? Have you played abound with the slider settings to see what happens. Where did you put the Theme Code Snippet for SlideDeck? I tried it in Content Above the Loop in ATO>Style & edit Center Column and it seems to work OK for me.

Hmm, after playing around with it a bit more from this perspective, it is definitely a problem with the slider. With the Slidedeck Lite plugin deactivated, there is no issue.

Also, I had the Slidedeck inserted into the Home page via the visual editor, having not even thought of the obvious placement through the theme options page. So thanks for that! Makes that a touch more user-friendly.

It doesn't seem to matter what category I set the new posts to. Either way, the third post and later show up above the slider. This is driving me nuts! I looked at the Slidedeck support forums, but they don't seem very helpful.

Did you try puttng the snippet in content above the loop?

Aye, that's where it is now. Didn't solve the issue. I guess I'll have to go with a different featured content slider to solve this.

Thanks for your help!

I am testing Frontpage Slideshow. Works fine so far.

I actually looked at your site before you switched the sliders and it was working for me. Smooth Slider is a good alternative though, and they're usually responsive to any issues that arise.

I went with Smooth Slider after trying a few others. Works like a charm, with no issues.

Thanks!
