Dynamically Resizing Images / Fluid vs. Fixed Width Sites

I'm not sure if this has been brought up elsewhere on the forum, but I thought I'd start a thread for it (I didn't see this solution in any of my searches).

I'm re-designing our existing site (criterioncast.com), which is currently using a fluid width for the site. I want to use a fixed width, but I love how the images resize when using the fluid width.

My current solution: set a fluid width, but then set the min / max widths to be my desired fixed width. This appears to resize the images correctly, and the site looks the way that I want it to.

If this has been brought up previously, are there any known problems / bugs associated with it? I don't see any immediate problems, but I thought I'd throw this out there.

*Update: you can see the website where I'm playing around with the theme over at robotsandoctopuses.com*
