My <form> in Page can't find it's .php action script

I am new to WP. I love your theme atahualpa.
I would also like to maintain my own tables on the MySQL db, have created them etc.
I have added the exec-php widget to run php on my pages and created a form on a page. I have had no luck with a regular method="post" action="processData.php"
I tried the jquery example from the net-tut tutorial: "Submit a Form without page refresh". Again, the js runs but the "process.php" doesn't. Maybe it's in the wrong place.

Please help!:

I am running this all on localhost so far.
I have pasted the example pretty much verbatim from
http://nettuts.com/javascript-ajax/s...-using-jquery/
I edited the header.php so the .js scripts are found and the css
It's the process.php called from the .ajax function (which I modified to Insert user input into my mysql tables) that can't be found...or won't even provide an echo "test";
