How to create space between TD#Middle and Sidebars?

I'm looking to add space (vertical) between my main content area and the right sidebar. I will eventually be bringing in a background design that I want to see in this space, but I can not find a post to steer me in the right direction.

So, I want the main content window (middle) to be white and I want the sidebar to be white....in between the two I want to see my temporary "red" background. It would essentially be a separation between the two, so that the background design can peek through. Is this possible? If there is a post about this, and I missed it, feel free to link it and share.

Thanks so much!

Here is a suggestion, add a right inner sidebar, make it the width you want and don't put anything in it. You could make it transparent so the background would show thru.

Thanks. I thought about that, but I will want to use that inner sidebar as a possible "new" sidebar that I show on certain pages (so that the sidebar content can be different on the homepage - from other pages in the site). Although, I think there are plugins that can do that (allow you to mix up sidebar content for different pages) so perhaps I will employ one of those.

Might there be another way to handle this, just in case I don't go the plugin method? Thanks

Try adding some 'padding' to the sidebar and the center. the padding is transparent
