[SOLVED] Please help with space around layout
 

Hello everyone!

I've been stalking this forum for about a week now, and I want to thank you for all of your help! Everyone's so nice here! I'm very very very new to this and don't understand a lot of technical language. I've searched for the answer to this for days and I haven't found it. So I apologize if someone already answered it. I have version 3.4.9.

Ok, not sure if I can explain this correctly. I'd like my layout width to stay at 1000px, but I want the background around the layout to be smaller.

So (in my language haha) on my website, I'd like the white part to stay the same, but the gray part to be smaller. Also, I'd like the white part to be aligned all the way to the right to leave room for a background image. This is my site:

(see how there's a lot of gray space and the white isn't centered?)


I would like the layout width to fill more of the page like this:

Please be very specific in your explanation and please excuse the absolute mess of my page - this is taking me forever to figure out :o

I fixed it!!!!!!!! I had an image in a text widget that was 450px wide
