Sidebar display settings affecting width of center column?

I'm working on two sites.

On one, I'm not using the right sidebar at all, yet the space remains for it, leaving the center text column nice and tight, which I like:

The other one, http://sallyjking.com/ I only want the right sidebar to show up on the blog page "Sally's Soapbox". To have this happen I've used the ATO> Style & configure SIDEBAR> RIGHT sidebar: Don't display on Pages: and listed all but that one page.

That is the only setting difference I can find, yet the text now stretches all the way to the right of the screen, which I don't want.

Is there anyway to do this and still have a tight center column?

Thank you,

Michele

It works on the first site because you have an empty text widget there and the sidebar is not turned off. To replicate this on the other site put an empty text widget on top there as well and display the other widgets for the single page with the help of the plugin widget logic
